Zion National Park - Angels Landing Trail

The Angels Landing Trail, from the trailhead at the Grotto.

The top of that rock is our destination!

This is only the beginning. These switchbacks are just warm ups for what's to come.

Refrigerator Canyon

Remember the warm up switchbacks? They were in preparation for these!

These are some major switchbacks! They are called Walter's Wiggles.

That's me on the edge of a mini-cliff in the middle of Walter's Wiggles.

Sitting on top of a cliff, with the Virgin River below.

Me sitting on the edge of the cliff.

The Zion Canyon, from the Scout Lookout portion of the Angels Landing Trail

Look! A California Condor sitting on a rock below me. It's really bizarre to look down on a bird.

The final ascent, along a "knife-edge" cliff, complete with chains for stability.

You have to hike up AND try not to fall off the cliff - the chains can be really handy here!

The view of Zion Canyon, looking South, from the top of Angels Landing.

Zion Canyon, looking North, from the top of Angels Landing.

The only way down...

It's more daunting hiking down the knife-edge than it is going up!

Back to the beginning, what an amazing hike!
